Biography:

2013:  GP/GS – 18/18…Erik re-joins the Shock as the anticipated starter going into Training Camp. After being held out of the previous season due to an early injury, Erik has returned to the field with a vengeance and plans to prove that he is one of the top quarterbacks of the AFL. 2013 REGULAR SEASON STATS: 18 games played, completed 403 of 591 passes (68.2%) for a franchise record 4,667 yards and 112 touchdowns with only 11 interceptions…Also set new franchise rushing records with 54 rushes for 120 net yards and 15 touchdowns…His 112 touchdown passes led the league going into Week 19. This was the ninth season in AFL history that a quarterback threw for at least 110 touchdowns…

 

2013 PLAYOFF GAME RACAPS: 8/1 vs. CHI: Started at QB…Completed 23 of 31 attempts for 235 yards, 5 touchdowns…4 rushes for 7 yards and 2 touchdowns…

 

2012: Entering the season as the expected starter, Erik was injured during the first game of the season versus the Iowa Barnstormers and would not return for the remainder of the 2012 season. He was awarded the National Guard Community MVP Award in Week 4 of the season for his work in philanthropic events.

 

2011: Began the season with the Blaze before being traded mid-year to the Spokane Shock.

 

2010: Joined the AFL’s Spokane Shock for his AFL debut where he appeared in two games connecting on 18 of 28 passes for 274 yards and five touchdowns.

 

OTHER PROFESSOINAL EXPERIENCE: Prior to his introduction to the AFL, Erik spent time spent time with the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2009), the NFL’s Oakland Raiders (2008), Seattle Seahawks (2007), and NFL Europe’s Cologne Centurions after signing as an undrafted free agent in the 2006 NFL Draft with the Cincinnati Bengals.

 

COLLEGE: At Eastern Washington University Meyer threw for 10,261 yards and 84 touchdowns with only 17 interceptions in 42 games. Meyer was selected as the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Year after both his junior and senior seasons. As a senior in 2005, Meyer won the prestigious Walter Payton Award, the equivalent of the Heisman Trophy for FCS programs.

 

PERSONAL: Meyer rewrote the record book at Eastern Washington University and was recently named as the top QB in the program’s 100-year history. As an Eagle, Meyer threw for 10,261 yards and 84 touchdowns with only 17 interceptions in 42 games.
