Shock roster continues to grow

The Spokane Shock announced today that OL Tim Walter has joined the 2011 roster. Walter, 6-4 300, was in camp this past season with the Chicago Bears.
Prior to joining the Bears, Walter started 39 games over his five-year career at Colorado State University. During his senior season, he was a member of the Rimington Trophy watch list for the nation’s top center. As a junior and a senior Walter received an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection.
“Tim’s capabilities will allow him to play a versatile role on our offensive line – and that’s always valuable in Arena Football,” Head Coach Rob Keefe explained. “We are very excited for him to use his speed and strength in a Spokane Shock uniform.”
For Walter, the decision to join the Shock was a “no-brainer.”
“The organization has a great reputation for winning and they also have a great reputation in getting their players to the next level,” Walter explained. “When I sat down with my family and my agent, honestly, there was not a down side to joining the Shock team.".
Professional athletics runs in the Walter family. His older brother, Scott, was a third-round draft choice in 2000 of the Kansas City Royals and spent that summer with the Spokane Indians.
“I actually flew over and watched a couple of games,” Walter said. “It was a great experience and I loved my time in Spokane.”
Perhaps Scott – who is now a scout for the Baltimore Orioles – will be able to return the favor and watch his younger brother play in Spokane.
