Spokane's OL will battle againstTulsa's DL Terrance Carter Saturday Night.

As the Shock prepare for the National Conference Championship Saturday, this week spokaneshock.com will provide fans with an in-depth look at some of Tulsa’s standout players. Today, we will be featuring DL Terrance Carter.

As the Shock prepare for battle on Saturday for the National Conference title, they will have to be able to conquer The Tulsa Talon’s own version of Ben McCombs, Terrance Carter. The 6-4 275 DL, has been the backbone of Tulsa’s defense since joining the team back in 2007, during the Talon’s championship season.

In the three years Carter has spent with Tulsa he has amassed 72.5 tackles including 26 sacks and 30.5 tackles for a loss. He has also racked up 11 pass break-ups, nine fumble recoveries, 11 forced fumbles and 48 QB hurries.

Carter ended the 2009 regular season with 25.5 tackles including nine and half sacks, two pass break-ups, six forced fumbles and a single fumble recovery. He ranked second in the league for forced fumbles and tenth in sacks.

“Carter is a well respected player and a dominate force,” explained Shock Head Coach Adam Shackleford. “I think if you aren’t worried about Terrance Carter you haven’t done your homework.”

Like Spokane’s McCombs, Carter’s success has come from his ability to apply pressure to the Talons opponents QBs. In the post-season Carter has continued to be a threat to QBs as he has collected four tackles and a half sack in the two games Tulsa has played so far.

“He’s a role player and is the type of player who can take over a game,” said Shackleford. “However, with our OL we know we don’t have to worry about Nick not being protected.”

As a veteran, Spokane can be sure that Carter is approaching Saturday night’s battle like a true solider. Come game time, he’ll be ready to try and conquer whatever Spokane has to throw at him, in order to help Tulsa secure a victory and continue their campaign for another ArenaCup Championship.
