Game Time...almost

"The Catch" Kelvin Dickens made this unbelievable game-winning catch in Spokane en route to defeating the Coyotes.

The Spokane Shock ride into Central Valley winning five of their last six, securing a ½ game lead in the division over the second-place Coyotes in the Western Division. The Coyotes have also won five of their last six, but what separates these teams is a loss that the Coyotes suffered in Spokane on May 26th.

In their last meeting, the fans in Spokane were treated to an offensive shoot-out with both teams combining for 129 points. The game was decided in dramatic fashion with the Shock winning it on the final play of the game as back-up QB Justin Rummell found WR Kelvin Dickens in the end zone.

Rummell, who was signed on May 18th, was inserted into the line-up after starting QB Andrico Hines went down in the 2nd quarter with an injury. Rummell, who was selected as the Schutt’s Offensive Player of the Game, ended up completing 75% of his passes with 213 yards and five touchdowns.

Coyotes QB Clay Groefsema also turned in a stellar performance with six touchdowns (25/39) and over 300 yards. Groefsema’s primary targets were WR Jason Barnes and Tonae Martin who each had eight receptions. Martin led the team with three touchdown receptions, while Barnes had one touchdown.

Spokane leads the all-time series 3-1, but Head Coach Adam Shackleford and his players understand the importance of this game not only in the division race, but also the play-off picture.

“Central Valley is the best team we have played all year,” Shackleford said. “We certainly will need to be ready to go.”
