Shock make a handful of roster moves

February 22, 2012 – Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that DL Louis Holmes, DB Paul Stephens, and WR Julius Lloyd have been added to the 2012 roster. DL James Ruffin and DL Pierre Walters were placed on the Physical Unable to Perform List while DL Siosifa Etu was placed on League Suspension. In the final roster move of the day, WR Brandon Ledbetter was placed on re-assignment.

Holmes, 6-5 260, was most recently in camp with Spokane in 2011. Prior to his time in Spokane, Holmes spent the previous two seasons in the UFL with the Sacramento Mountain Lions. In eight games with Sacramento, Holmes collected twelve tackles and forced three fumbles. Holmes also has NFL experience with the San Francisco 49ers and more recently the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2009, Holmes appeared in four preseason games for Tampa Bay and collected two sacks, six tackles, two pass deflections and forced one fumble. 

Lloyd, 6-0 190, will enter his rookie season in the AFL. Prior to his professional career, Lloyd suited up for Montana State. As a Bobcat, Lloyd collected 72 receptions for 1,153 yards with eight touchdowns.

Stephens, 5-9 170, was a teammate of WR Brandon Thompkins at Arkansas State, but he finished his collegiate career at Central Missouri State. As a senior at Central Missouri, Stephens led the team in interceptions (four), returning two of them for touchdowns. He also collected 73 tackles with five pass break-ups and forced one fumble. Stephens also contributed on Special Teams where he averaged 26 yards/kick-off return (10 returns for 260 yards).
