WR Markee White returns

The Spokane Shock announced today that WR Markee White has been added to the 2011 roster. Additionally, the Shock activated WR Dudley Guice from Refused to Report.

White, 6-7 215, was a key contributor to the Shock’s ArenaBowl XXIII Championship. During the regular season, White recorded 66 receptions for 925 yards and 18 touchdowns in only 10 games. In the post season, White added 24 receptions – including a team-leading nine in the ArenaBowl – for 234 yards and eight touchdowns.

“Markee was such a key contributor to our team last year, it was important to get him back on the team,” Head Coach Rob Keefe explained. “He has continued to improve year in and year out. I expect his growth to continue and I know that he will be another key member of our team.”

After helping Spokane capture the ArenaBowl Championship, White signed with the UFL’s Hartford Colonials where he recorded 26 receptions for 304 yards with two touchdowns. Additionally, White set the UFL record for receiving yards in a game with 152.

After two successful seasons in the AFL and the UFL, White is hungry to prove that he belongs in the NFL.

“Spokane has become a second home for me and I want to stay active and relevant,” White explained. “After I didn’t get picked up (by an NFL team), it put a chip on my shoulder. I know that I have a lot to prove - even more than last year, despite the success I had.”

White is also hungry for another Championship season.

“Spokane has a tradition of winning and the players who come here want to win,” White explained. “I know that I’ll be playing with the best talent in the league and that pushes me to play even better.”

White and the rest of the Shock will open the season on the road in San Jose against the SaberCats on March 11^th. Spokane will return on March 19^th to host the Cleveland Gladiators.
