Shock Roster: addition and subtractions

January 2, 2008: Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that LB Marcus Lawrence will join their 2008 roster. In other Shock news, WR Steve Odom and OL Jason Karcher (who both signed in September of 2007) were released from the team. Meanwhile, LB Lee Foliaki – who signed with the Shock on November 6th – signed a contract to join the AFL’s Columbus Destroyers for the 2008 season.

Lawrence – 6’3” 245 – spent time in training camps with the New York Giants and the Minnesota Vikings in 2006. After being released, Lawrence was re-signed to the New York Giants active roster and played as a reserve in Giants NFL Wildcard game against the Carolina Panthers in 2006. In that game, Lawrence recorded a tackle on special teams.
Prior to his NFL experience, Lawrence was a teammate of former Shock LB Jermaine Harris at the University of South Carolina. During his two-year career at USC, Lawrence collected 156 tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one sack and one safety.

“From what I’ve read and from what I’ve seen he is the highest rated player that the Shock have ever signed,” Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. “He’s a good old fashioned hard-nosed football player that will make a significant impact on our defense.”

To date, the Shock’s roster stands at 28 players of the 35 players that will be invited to training camp that begins in March. Season tickets for the 2008 season are on sale now and can be purchased by calling (509) 242-7462.
