Showdown: On to the Dance Team Try-Out Finals

02/15/2006 4:02 PM - Spokane, WA (February 15, 2006) — After celebrating Valentine’s Day with their significant others, over 40 local Spokane women turned their attention to their first true love-- dance. At the Spokane Shock dance team semi-final try-out, dancers poured their hearts into learning and executing a routine, making it difficult for the judges to select only 30 of the original 49 women.

The women attending the semi-final try-out were selected after learning and executing a routine to Outkast’s “I Like The Way You Move” at the open-call held on February 7th. For the semi-finals, dance team director Sabrina Chaudhry taught the dancers additional steps to this routine which added complicated technical moves and gave the dancers an opportunity to demonstrate their dancing talent.

“These women are incredibly talented dancers. They learned the routine very quickly and forced us to make extremely tough decisions,” said Chaudhry.

The women who were selected to advance to the finals were then taught an additional routine to Missy Elliott’s “Lose Control,” which they will be performing in front of the public and a panel of local celebrity judges.

The finals will be held at 7 p.m. on March 3rd at the Northern Quest Casino Pend Oreille Pavilion and will be open to the general public.
