Shock add depth to secondary; Neist requests release

07/05/2006 5:51 PM - The Spokane Shock announced today that DS Leo FenceRoy has been assigned to their roster by the af2 League Office. In other roster moves, the Shock also announced that Quarterback Alex Neist has been placed on recallable reassignment.

Neist, who started 11 games for the Shock this year, requested his release. “This was not a move that we would have made if Alex had not requested it,” Spokane Shock General Manager Adam Nebeker said. Neist was replaced by Kyle Rowley in the second half of the Shock’s come from behind victory at home against Albany. Shortly thereafter, Head Coach Chris Siegfried named Rowley the starter.

FenceRoy, a two-year veteran of the af2, most recently played in one game for the Manchester Wolves but spent the majority of this season with the Macon Knights. In only eight games with the Knights, FenceRoy had 34.5 tackles with five interceptions, eight pass break-ups, and one fumble recovery.

“Leo’s experience will be a huge asset to our secondary as we position ourselves for a playoff run,” Nebeker said.

FenceRoy has been cleared and is expecting to see some playing time this weekend as the Shock host the Dusters Saturday night. Plenty of great seats are still available for the game and can be purchased at any TicketWest outlet.

Rockwood Clinic Injury Update: DS Johnny Lamar has been moved to the long-term Injured Reserve list after suffering a severe high-ankle sprain in practice last week. He will be out several weeks. WR/LB Chris Stallworth is scheduled to undergoe surgery shortly to repair a torn ACL suffered against Louisville. He will likely miss the remainder of the season.
